FINANCIAL TIMES STAFFER JOINS INTERNATIONAL FIRM IN BELFAST

Intern Europe appoints Hannah Schmuck as Business Manager

Intern Europe, an international business based in Belfast that offers short term work placements (3-14 weeks) in Northern Ireland for participants from across Europe has appointed a researcher from The Financial Times to head up business operations at its Mount Charles headquarters.

Hannah Schmuck joins Intern Europe as Business Manager following the company’s first birthday in Belfast during a year in which the business is forecasting over 30% growth.

An International Cultural and Business studies graduate of University of Passau, Lower Bavaria, Germany and Masters graduate of Intercultural Communication Studies at the European University Viadrina Frankfurt/Oder, Hannah joins the 10-strong team at Intern Europe to oversee the company’s HR and project management operations.

Before joining Intern Europe, Hannah worked at The Financial Times as a Research Assistant. She has also previously worked for organisations including BAMIK GmbH – Academy for Mediation and Intercultural Communication and Europa-Direkt e.V. – Institute for Intercultural and European Studies.

Originally from Germany, Hannah has worked and studied across Europe and moved to Northern Ireland on a short-term basis to gain experience with Intern Europe – a job which has now been made permanent by its Managing Director, Colin Blackburn.

Speaking of Hannah’s appointment, Colin said: “We first worked with Hannah when she came to Northern Ireland on our internship programme and we were incredibly impressed with her. We monitored her career closely and when she decided to leave The Financial Times, we offered her a job at Intern Europe here in our Belfast office. We’re thrilled to welcome her back to the business on a full-time, permanent basis and look forward to working with her.”

Hannah added: “I’m really happy to be joining the team at Intern Europe on a permanent basis and can’t wait to get started. My previous experience of working with the company combined with my love of living and working here in Northern Ireland made it an easy decision for me and I’m excited about the future both for myself and for Intern Europe as a business.”
