The Clearbox Weekly 5th September

Greetings everyone, welcome to your latest edition of weekly musings from Clearbox Towers.

This week, we’ve been launching a new US-based Kickstarter campaign, celebrating a sporting client’s first birthday and welcoming the Jyrobike team back from a highly successful trade show in Germany.

Bathroom technology was on the agenda for us this week as we launched Fresh Air Plus, a brand new high tech toilet seat from the US. The team has secured some great coverage in titles like the Daily Mail and Trusted Reviews and we’re looking forward to the next 47 days of the campaign.

The Jyrobike team returned home from a hugely successful visit to Eurobike, the world’s biggest bicycle show. The world’s first and only auto balance bicycle, launched by Clearbox earlier this year, attracted the attention of world-leading investors, retailers and cycle fans at the exhibition in Germany – stay tuned for more developments on this one!

Finally, one of Clearbox’s sporting clients, Number 1 GK, celebrated its first birthday this week. The goalkeeping academy turned one on Sunday and celebrated with a family fun day. For more information or to brush up your goalkeeping skills, visit the Facebook page.

In the news…

The flavour of our media observations have a US and food theme this week, along with the best viral video we’ve seen for quite some time.

Mr Kipling, the nation’s favourite baker, launched the world’s first edible billboard this week with this beautiful creation. Mr Kipling, if you’re reading this, we have lots of billboard space in Belfast and Dublin if you fancy doing another one…

Sticking with food, Dunkin’ Donuts opened its first new branch in Southern California, much to the delight of the thousands of people who queued overnight to get a taste of the doughy goodness. How did DD attract so many people to what was essentially a low-key affair? Promised them all free food. The resulting line helped the brand attract lots of local media coverage – simple PR is always the best PR, isn’t it?

According to, well, practically everyone the new iPhone will launch next week. Despite only being a rumour at this stage, some Apple fans caused a social media stir this week when they started camping outside the New York store six days before the Apple press conference on September 9th. Why do we love this? Because they’re not customers – they’re app developers, and their decision to queue so early generated some nice press coverage for their apps. Well played guys…

Finally, we’re always talking about Paddy Power at Clearbox and this week, they’ve gone and done another brilliant campaign.

Teaming up with Stonewall, the lesbian, gay and bisexual charity, the bookie brought back last year’s Rainbow Laces campaign to raise awareness of homophobia in football. Arsenal, Paddy Power’s betting partner, backed the campaign using some of their players in this brilliant video – we loved it.
