Matt Damon returned to the big screen in his iconic role as Jason Bourne in 2016 and we worked with Universal Pictures to engage media in the world of Bourne and get them hyped for the release of the movie.
Creating the Bourne Bootcamp, we brought a selection of national print, broadcast and online media to a secret, backstreet location in Dublin and introduced them to Patrick Cumiskey; a close quarter combat expert and his team. Since 2001, Patrick has trained over 30,000 people in Ireland, including Ranger Wing, Gardaí and United Nations Units preparing for deployment – so it’s safe to say you don’t want to pick a fight with him.
Patrick spent the day putting the media through their paces by teaching them the art of Krav Maga, one of the forms of self defence used by Jason Bourne in the movie.
The event was a huge success, with press coverage and social content over the following day helping #JasonBourne trend in Ireland. The event, held in the weeks leading up to the event to drive ticket sales, helped Jason Bourne to a stellar performance at the box office and also taught a select group of media how to defend themselves like the title character.
Loads of TV, radio, press and online coverage secured for the movie with the efficiency of a former CIA spy. Result.
