Next up in our (stolen from the NME) musical questionnaire is Rachel. 'RR' is one of two Disney princesses at Clearbox and has the most eclectic taste of everyone in our team.
Where else would you see Kylie, Billy Joel and the Tweenies mentioned in the same article?
Crack on, RR.
The song I wish I’d written
Oh it has to be the Cha-Cha Slide - simply because the royalties would be sky high and on top of that it’s also TUNE.
The first song I remember hearing
“Can’t Get You Out Of My Head” by Kylie Minogue - I even choreographed a dance to this at age 4.
The first album I owned
It was definitely some sort of Disney Hits album because I was (and still am) a real Disney fan girl. "Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid was my go-to.
The first gig I went to
The Tweenies Live at the Odyssey Area - best night of my LIFE.
The song that reminds me of home
“Tell Me Ma” - a proper Belfast tune that my Granda used to always sing to me. He actually convinced me that I was the girl the song was written about.
The song I can no longer listen to
“Party Rock Anthem” by LMFAO - it just reminds me of some pretty cringe memories from a monthly teenage disco I used to go to when I was 13/14 in the Mandela Hall called “Fever”.
The song that changed my life
“Vienna” by Billy Joel. It just emphasises that there is no rush to accomplish everything you want all at once - “You’re so ahead of yourself, that you forgot what you need." I heard it for the first time in October and I really needed to hear it at that point in my life.
The song I want played at my funeral
“Drops of Jupiter” by Train.
The song I listen to before going to work
“Pony” by Ginuwine - it gets me pumped up for the day.
The song I do at karaoke
“Shallow” from A Star Is Born - as everyone witnessed at the Christmas party last year.
The song I discovered during lockdown
“Watermelon Sugar” by Harry Styles - it is a TUNE. It makes me want to drive around in the sunshine in a convertible with the roof down.
